Generic Prevacid is prescribed to be used for only a short period of time, usually about 4 weeks. It’s primary function is to aid in the relief and assist as a curative for symptoms of duodenal ulcers. It is also used to treat ulcer problems caused by using anti-inflammatory pain medications for extended amounts of time and is known to be quite effective.
How Does This Medication Work?
Acid occurs naturally in the Gastro system, specifically in the stomach in order to aid in the digestion of our food. When too much acid is produced it becomes an uncomfortable annoyance, bothering the lining of the belly which can cause ulcers and inflammation to occur. Generic Prevacid or Lansoprazole helps by decreasing the quantity of acid that develops in the gut which in turn relieves discomfort and begins to heal any damage by impeding the gastric acid pump.
How Is This Medication Taken?
Generic Prevacid should be taken as instructed, use once per day before a meal. Follow your physicians direction carefully. Never ingest any additional or not as much of Generic Prevacid unless your doctor prescribes the difference in dosages.
What If I Miss A Dose?
If a dose is forgotten or missed you should ingest the dose as soon as you realize it. If it is near the time of your next dosage, forget about the forgotten dose and consume the next pill in your regular scheduled medication protocol. Never take any additional medication to make up for missed or forgotten doses and contact your physician if you are not clear on how to proceed.
