Generic Bactrim is a potent combination antibiotic which is enhanced by a sulfonamide antibiotic that proves effective at killing off susceptible bacteria. Generic Bactrim is effective in the treatment of various kinds of infectious conditions ranging from Urinary tract contagions to respiratory infections.
How Does This Medication Work?
Generic Bactrim and Cotrimoxazole are potent antibacterial meds which use a combination of several medications - Trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole – working effectively in concert to kill bacteria. They act as inhibitors of folic acid production by fastening to the enzyme that makes folic acid and impeding the enzyme from folic acid development. Because it targets the bacterial enzyme much more effectively there is little interference in producing normal human folic acid.
How Is This Medication Taken?
Specifically follow your physicians instructions when beginning a treatment with Generic Bactrim. Each dose should be consumed with a glass of water. If stomach irritation happens, ingest the pill with some milk or a bit of food. Normally these types of medications are taken consistently over the course of the day i.e. each 8 to 12 hours.
What If I Miss A Dose?
If you have simply forgotten to take a single dosage just continue with your regular dosage protocol at consistent time periods and take the missed or forgotten dose as soon as you realize it. If you are nearly ready for your next dose, pass on the forgotten dose and continue the normal schedule. Never take a dual dose of this drug except if it is directed by your physician.
